Alex Easton MP has issued a strong appeal to Ards and North Down Borough Council, urging immediate and decisive action to resolve the ongoing litter crisis behind the Flagship Centre in Bangor.

In a detailed statement, Mr Easton said: “The persistent accumulation of litter behind the Flagship Centre is unacceptable. This neglected area has become a serious environmental and public health hazard, diminishing the visual appeal and overall quality of life in our city. Residents and visitors alike are understandably frustrated, and it is time that urgent steps are taken.”

He added, “The Council must prioritise swift, comprehensive clean-up efforts and establish a rigorous routine maintenance programme to keep the area consistently clean. Furthermore, enhanced enforcement measures must be introduced, including fines and community awareness campaigns, to deter littering and promote greater respect for our shared public spaces.”

Mr Easton concluded, “The residents of Bangor deserve a clean, healthy, and welcoming environment. It is vital that Ards and North Down Borough Council demonstrates leadership and commitment by tackling this issue proactively and effectively. Our community expects and deserves nothing less than prompt action.”
