Alex Easton MP has officially recognised the achievement of Bangor’s Dean Pritchard, who won two gold medals at the Irish Taekwon-Do Championships in Limerick, by presenting him with an Early Day Motion (EDM) tabled in Parliament.

Dean secured national titles in both the patterns and sparring categories, highlighting his dedication and skill in the sport. Having started Taekwon-Do at the age of 20, he quickly rose through the ranks to become a third-degree black belt. Earlier this year, he founded Elite Taekwon-Do NI at the Aurora Leisure Centre in Bangor, where he has been training and inspiring others.

Speaking at the presentation, Alex Easton MP said:

It is an honour to present this Early Day Motion to Dean Pritchard in recognition of his incredible achievement. Winning two gold medals at a national competition is a huge accomplishment and a testament to his hard work and commitment. He is not only a talented athlete but also an inspiration to young people across North Down.

The event also recognised the success of one of Dean’s students, 10-year-old Kristians Frisbergs from Newtownards, who won a gold medal in the blue belt division for patterns.

Alex Easton MP added:

Dean’s contribution to the community through Elite Taekwon-Do NI is invaluable. He is giving young people the opportunity to learn discipline, self-confidence, and resilience through sport. I have no doubt his success will encourage more people to take up Taekwon-Do. I wish him and his students continued success in future competitions.
