Speaking from the House of Commons where he signed the Radiotherapy plan for the UK Government to – Catch Up With Cancer.

Mr Easton stated;

“I saw at first hand the life saving radiotherapy treatment administered by skilled professionals to my father. Like many families I am so grateful to the support of the National Health Service when a loved one is affected by cancer.

We know the scale of the cancer challenge, which is correctly termed a crisis. With cancer cases set to rise 30% by 2040.

Some half million UK citizens in the last decade were waiting too long for their treatment and an honest analysis when compared with cancer treatment in similar countries shows that the UK has been found wanting.

The focus must now be on early diagnosis, modernising cancer treatments and moving bureaucratic burdens and obstacles to allow for effective speedy treatment.”
