Press Statement

Jul 18, 2025

Let me be crystal clear: there is absolutely no justification for intimidation, whether through graffiti, threats. Legitimate concerns must and will be addressed through democratic means. I urge everyone to adhere to the law, particularly as our dedicated Police Service is already stretched thin.”

“There are numerous valid concerns regarding illegal immigration. As your MP, I want to emphasize that such issues should be addressed within the democratic framework at Westminster and the NI Assembly, where I am committed to holding the Labour government accountable.

I recognize the strain on housing, access to GP services—this issue I will soon raise in the House of Commons—as well as the pressures on the NHS, including dental services. These are concerns I encounter on a daily basis.

I have said before, but I will repeat it today, that there is no place for the intimidation in our society. I am committed to making sure our society is a safe place for people to live and ask for compassion to be shown to everyone no mater were they come from. But I understand that peoples feel frustrated, as they see so many changes happening to the society around them, and people can be fearful of change, and it is high time that Government started to listen to the real concerns that many people have over illegal immigration and start to address those real fears and concerns.
