I wish to clearly state my total opposition to the proposed benefit cuts being pursued by this Government. At a time when families across North Down and Northern Ireland are already struggling with rising living costs and financial uncertainty, these cuts will only serve to deepen hardship and drive more people into poverty.
As your MP, I will vigorously oppose every single benefit cut brought forward by this Government in the House of Commons. We cannot allow vulnerable individuals, children, pensioners, and those with disabilities to bear the brunt of misguided austerity measures.
Furthermore, I call upon the Northern Ireland Assembly and all local parties to unite in firm opposition to these unacceptable cuts. It is imperative that our elected representatives in Northern Ireland stand shoulder to shoulder to protect our communities, ensuring the most vulnerable in society are supported rather than abandoned.
The Government must reconsider its position, abandon these destructive cuts, and instead deliver meaningful support to those who need it most.
