I am deeply saddened and angered to learn that poppy wreaths have been stolen from the war memorial and disgracefully discarded over the fence at the bottom pond near the library.
This is an appalling act of disrespect, not only to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom but also to our entire community, who value the memory and significance of the war memorial. The poppy wreath is a solemn symbol of remembrance, and to see it treated in such a callous and thoughtless manner is deeply hurtful.
I would urge anyone with information about this shameful incident to come forward and report it to the police. This behaviour has no place in our society, and those responsible must be held to account.
We must never forget the sacrifices made by our servicemen and women, and we must all stand together in ensuring that acts of remembrance are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.
