Alex Easton MP Congratulates Rory McIlroy on Historic Grand Slam Victory and Calls for Homecoming Parade
“I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Rory McIlroy on his phenomenal victory at the US Masters, completing the career Grand Slam and securing his place in the history books of world golf.
This is a moment of immense pride for Northern Ireland. From his early days at Holywood Golf Club to the iconic greens of Augusta National, Rory’s journey has been one of dedication, resilience, and world-class talent. His success is not only a personal triumph but a shining example of what young people from our region can achieve on the global stage.
Rory’s achievements deserve to be recognised and celebrated. I am therefore calling for a homecoming parade to be held in his honour, so that the people of North Down, his home community of Holywood, and indeed all of Northern Ireland, can show their appreciation and pride in what he has accomplished.
Such a celebration would give us all the opportunity to say thank you to Rory for the joy, excitement, and inspiration he has brought us, and to mark this extraordinary moment in Northern Ireland’s sporting history.
I join with the entire community in congratulating Rory on this iconic achievement. We are all incredibly proud of him.”
