North Down MP Alex Easton has welcomed confirmation from the Department for Infrastructure that funding has now been secured to allow for long-awaited resurfacing works to take place at Silverstream Drive, Hawthorne Drive and Beechwood Avenue.

After more than ten years of sustained lobbying on behalf of local residents, Mr Easton has received confirmation from the Department that an additional allocation has been secured which will allow these important road improvement works to proceed.

Speaking today, Alex Easton MP said:

“For over a decade, I have been working closely with residents and the Department for Infrastructure to highlight the unacceptable condition of Silverstream Drive, Hawthorne Drive and Beechwood Avenue.

“I am therefore pleased to confirm that, following continued engagement and lobbying, the Department has now provided an additional funding allocation which will allow these roads to be resurfaced.

“Residents have had to contend with deteriorating road surfaces for far too long, and this investment will go a long way in improving road safety and overall quality of life for those living in the area.”

Mr Easton added:

“While there is not yet a confirmed start date for the works, I can assure residents that the funding is now secured and I will continue to press the Department to ensure that the resurfacing programme is delivered as soon as possible.”

Alex Easton MP reaffirmed his commitment to continuing to advocate for infrastructure improvements across North Down.
