Alex Easton MP has presented Mr David Devlin with a copy of an Early Day Motion, tabled in the House of Commons, to mark the 25th Anniversary of The Somme Memorial Flute Band. The presentation took place during a band practice, with Mr Devlin receiving the motion on behalf of the band members.

The Early Day Motion congratulates the band, formed in Bangor in 1998, for its outstanding contribution to music, heritage and community over the past 25 years. It highlights the band’s growth from the 20s to more than 40 active members, its 26 public performances during the anniversary year, and its proud record of representing Northern Ireland at events across Scotland, the Republic of Ireland, France and Belgium.

Speaking at the presentation, Alex Easton MP said:

“It was a great honour to present this Early Day Motion to Mr David Devlin during band practice, on behalf of The Somme Memorial Flute Band, in recognition of their 25 years of dedication, music and community spirit. The band has become a cornerstone of cultural life in Bangor and beyond, and this milestone is a testament to the commitment, talent and hard work of its members past and present. I warmly congratulate them on this achievement and wish them every success for the future.”
