Alex Easton MP has condemned the arson attack on a house in the Balloo Walk area of Bangor, within the Bloomfield estate, and has appealed for anyone with information to come forward to police.
Speaking following the incident, Alex Easton MP said:
“I am deeply shocked and concerned by this very serious arson attack in the Balloo Walk area of Bangor.
“This was not simply an attack on property. Police are treating this as arson with intent to endanger life, and the fact that the occupant was asleep in the house at the time makes this an extremely frightening and dangerous incident.
“My thoughts are with the resident affected, and with local people in the Bloomfield estate who will understandably be very worried by what has happened.
“I want to thank the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service and the PSNI for their swift response. Their actions helped bring this incident under control and prevented what could have been an even more serious outcome.
“I would strongly appeal to anyone who was in the Balloo Walk area around the time of the incident, or who saw anything suspicious, to contact police immediately. Anyone with dashcam footage, CCTV, doorbell camera footage or any other information should pass it on to the PSNI.
“Those responsible for this reckless and dangerous attack must be brought before the courts. There can be no place for this type of criminal behaviour in Bangor or anywhere in North Down.”
Police have asked anyone with information to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 31 of 23/06/26. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
