Alex Easton MP has today urged Ards and North Down Borough Council to ensure that Bangor City Hall is not sold off and remains in public ownership for the benefit of the people of Bangor.

Speaking on the issue, Mr Easton said:

“Bangor City Hall is a key part of our city’s heritage and civic life. It belongs to the people of Bangor, and it must remain in the ownership of Ards and North Down Borough Council to ensure it continues to serve the community.”

“There should be no question of selling off such an important building. City Hall has long been a hub for civic engagement, community events, and public services. Once it is sold, it is lost forever. The council must commit to protecting this historic site and ensuring it remains accessible for local residents.”

“I urge the council to be transparent about its plans and to guarantee that Bangor City Hall is not put on the market. The focus should be on maintaining and utilising it for the benefit of the people, not selling off a vital part of our civic identity.”

Mr Easton has pledged to stand with residents in opposing any attempts to privatise Bangor City Hall and is calling for full reassurance from the council that it will remain in public hands.
