Alex Easton MP has confirmed that he has made a formal submission to the Post Office consultation on the future of Bangor Post Office, following widespread concern from constituents.
Speaking on the issue, he said:
I have lodged a submission with the Post Office to make clear the sheer strength of public feeling on this issue. My office has been inundated with complaints from residents who are extremely worried about the proposed closure of the Bangor Post Office Branch. It is unacceptable that people should be left without a centrally located Post Office.
If the Post Office is determined to close the current branch, then I am calling on them to urgently establish a smaller, fully accessible branch close to the existing site. This would go some way to protecting vital services for the public, especially the elderly, vulnerable, and those without transport.
I would also strongly encourage members of the public to take part in the consultation and make their voices heard. The consultation can be accessed at the following link Bangor BT20 4AQ – 003704 – Post Office – Citizen Space https://share.google/9rj0TduWLNKgbBSWJI will continue to press the Post Office to ensure that Bangor city centre retains an accessible and permanent Post Office facility.
