Alex Easton MP Condemns Bangor Assault
I am deeply concerned by reports of a shocking assault on a young male in Bangor on 1st June.
According to information released by the PSNI, the victim was allegedly knocked off his bike at the Craigboy Park and Owenrow Drive junction before being pursued by two males and assaulted in an alleyway in the Kearney Gardens area.
This was a completely unacceptable and cowardly attack. No young person should have to fear being targeted, chased and assaulted while going about their daily life in our community.
My thoughts are with the victim and his family following this distressing ordeal. I hope he makes a full and speedy recovery from both any physical injuries and the trauma caused by this incident.
I would urge anyone who was in the area between 3.15pm and 3.45pm on 1st June, or anyone who may have dashcam, CCTV or other relevant footage, to come forward and assist the PSNI with their investigation. Those responsible must be identified and brought before the courts.
Violence of this nature has absolutely no place in Bangor or anywhere in North Down. Our community is known for being a safe and welcoming place to live, and we must all stand together against those who seek to intimidate and harm others.
Anyone with information should contact the PSNI on 101 quoting reference number CC2026060101076.
