Press Statement – Alex Easton MP
Alex Easton MP has welcomed the peaceful conclusion of the recent Bank Holiday period, following concerns in advance about potential disorder.
Mr Easton said:
“It is very welcome news that, after concerns in the lead-up to the Bank Holiday, the period passed off without any significant trouble. That is a credit to the community as a whole and to those who worked tirelessly to maintain calm.”
“I would like to place on record my sincere thanks to the Police Service of Northern Ireland for their professionalism, vigilance and commitment in ensuring public safety throughout the Bank Holiday.”
“Our police officers continue to serve with dedication, often under difficult circumstances, and their efforts do not go unnoticed. This weekend is a clear example of how effective policing and community cooperation can deliver positive outcomes.”
Mr Easton added:
“However, I remain firmly of the view that we need to see our local police station opened up. A visible and accessible policing presence is vital for community confidence and for supporting officers on the ground.”
“It is important that we continue to support our police, build on this progress, and ensure that all communities can feel safe and secure at all times.”
